Protecting Canada's Little Idiots...But Only At and For Their Convenience!

The Conservative Government of Canada's stance on Veterans Benefits and their continued challenge to support our military personnel in active and retired duty reflects the shallowness of the "values" Canada purports to defend.

Ironically, during a time of strife and struggle or when the needs of the political interests are being served, politicians are the most ardent supporters of our men and women that serve.

Like so many professions that are designed to serve the public good, the military are viewed as a tool to serve the political interests. Unfortunately, the political leadership has no regard or respect for the efforts of the sacrifices made by those that serve the "values and policies" of Canada.

Whether you agree or disagree with the idea or notion of the military, remember that the men and women of the Canadian Armed Forces are an instrument of policy: they don't make policy. Elected officials in the House of Commons are the legislative body that makes policy.

While many Canadians express a sense of gratitude for the efforts of our pubic servants, especially those that are put in harms way, if we really supported our men and women in service (and retired), we would demand that our government put the resources to support them.

Instead of increased support for our men and women serving to protect "Canada's little idiots", there are far too many examples of governments refusing service, support, and aid to those that have made the decision to serve Canada around the world.
